The House of Uhuru is overseen by Jorge Reyes, Director of Behavioral and Social Services since 2013. He also oversees the HIV/AIDS and Behavioral Health Program, as well as the Youth Education and Prevention Program. Mr. Reyes previously worked for various City of Los Angeles Gang and Drug Prevention and Intervention programs for over nine years, most recently serving as director of intervention programs for the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office for Gang Reduction and Youth Development. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, in Psychology and a master’s degree from California State University, Long Beach, in community clinical psychology. At the House of Uhuru, he oversees a service staff of 25+, including substance abuse professionals (counselors/case managers) who are certified as Alcohol or Drug Counselors.
Dr. Roderick Seamster was appointed President & CEO of Watts Healthcare Corporation (WHCC), Los Angeles, California October 31, 2016. The mission and vision of WHCC have particular emphasis on providing accessible, compassionate, comprehensive, culturally accurate, and quality health care services to the vulnerable and underserved. WHCC is an independent, non-profit community-based organization that provides an array of primary, preventive and specialty health and enabling services to residents in South Los Angeles and surrounding neighborhoods.
Dr. Seamster attended Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health and received his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health degrees, respectively. He performed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California at Irvine.
